Light shortcrust pastry

Making your own light shortcrust pastry at home has a double advantage. Contrary to what one might think, shortcrust pastry is very quick to make. Making it yourself allows you to see the amount of butter in it. Because those found in supermarkets are often very high in fat, regardless of the brand.

Instructions

  • 1.   To make the shortcrust pastry, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • 2.   Pour the flour into a bowl with the salt. Mix. Add the butter and quickly mix with your hands until it becomes crumbly. Meanwhile, heat the milk in the microwave for a maximum of 30 seconds.
  • 3.   Quickly incorporate the milk into the dough and mix everything together to obtain a ball that is no longer sticky or only slightly sticky to the hands.
  • 4.   Cover your mold with parchment paper, place the dough in it and shape it directly in the mold. Bake the pastry for 5 minutes. Remove the pastry from the oven and add the desired filling.
