1. Grease and flour a mold of your choice. Tap the mold to remove excess flour.
2. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
3. Beat the egg whites with the vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of sugar until stiff peaks form.
4. Gradually add the remaining sugar while continuing to beat.
5. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking powder.
6. Sift this mixture over the egg whites and gently fold in using a spatula.
7. Finally, incorporate the melted and cooled butter.
8. Pour the batter into the mold and bake for about 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness by inserting a toothpick that should come out clean.
In an air fryer, cook at 180°C for 25 minutes.
9. Remove from the mold and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
