Instructions
1. Start this tomato and basil gnocchi recipe by preparing the sauce: Peel and finely chop the onion and sauté it over medium heat in a large skillet with olive oil, without letting it brown. Add the tomatoes, peeled and crushed garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cover and let simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
2. Bring a pot of salted boiling water to a boil, then cook the gnocchi in small batches. Remove them with a slotted spoon as soon as they float to the surface.
3. Transfer them to the tomato sauce as you go and let them cook for a few more minutes. Sprinkle the top with basil leaves, then serve.
