Steamed Savane Cake with Thermomix

Because the Thermomix can also bake cakes using the steam it generates, here is the recipe for the Steamed Savane Cake! It will give you a very moist, light, and melt-in-your-mouth marbled cake :)

Instructions

  • 1.   Place 3 egg whites in the Thermomix bowl.
  • 2.   Add the whisk attachment.
  • 3.   Place the lid with the measuring cup on.
  • 4.   Mix for 3 min/speed 3.5.
  • 5.   Remove the whisk attachment.
  • 6.   Transfer to a separate container.
  • 7.   Put 90 grams of granulated sugar in the Thermomix bowl.
  • 8.   Add the 3 egg yolks to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 9.   Add the whisk attachment.
  • 10.   Place the lid with the measuring cup on.
  • 11.   Mix for 4 min/speed 3.5.
  • 12.   Add 150 grams of flour to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 13.   Add 50 grams of semi-skimmed milk to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 14.   Add 90 grams of melted butter to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 15.   Add 1 packet of vanilla sugar to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 16.   Add 1 packet of baking powder to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 17.   Place the lid with the measuring cup on.
  • 18.   Mix for 2 min 40 sec/speed 3.5.
  • 19.   Add the batter to the container with the beaten egg whites and gently mix.
  • 20.   Pour half of the batter into the Thermomix bowl.

  • 21.   Add 75 grams of melted dark chocolate to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 22.   Place the lid with the measuring cup on.
  • 23.   Mix for 30 sec/speed 4.
  • 24.   Alternately pour the vanilla batter and the chocolate batter into a greased mold, making sure it fits in the Thermomix Varoma and that its lid closes tightly.
  • 25.   Rinse the Thermomix bowl.
  • 26.   Add 1000 grams of water to the Thermomix bowl.
  • 27.   Add the Varoma attachment.
  • 28.   Place the mold in the Varoma and place the lid on top. .
  • 29.   Cook for 50 min/120°C/speed 1.
  • 30.   Unmold once the Savane cake has cooled.
