Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  • 2.   In the center of the puff pastry, on a strip about 10 cm (4 inches) wide, spread the mustard. Cut the ham slices in half and place one on top of the mustard. Then place 3 slices of cheese on the ham, followed by another layer of ham, then cheese, and finally ham.
  • 3.   Cut the uncovered pastry into horizontal strips.
  • 4.   Starting from one end, fold each strip over the filling, slightly diagonally, alternating a strip on each side. Make sure there are no gaps between the strips.
  • 5.   Brush the puff pastry with some beaten egg yolk and bake for about 30 minutes, until the surface is golden brown. Serve very hot so that the cheese is melted. The puff pastry is delicious accompanied by a green salad.
