Upside-down apple cake

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  • 2.   Beat the softened butter with the sugar, then add the eggs one by one. Incorporate the baking powder and then gradually add the flour.
  • 3.   Peel the apples and cut them in half. Remove the core, stem, and bottom of the apple. Cut the apples into thin slices while keeping the shape of the half-apples. Sprinkle them with lemon juice.
  • 4.   Pour ¾ of the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan, then bake for 15 minutes.
  • 5.   Remove the pan from the oven and arrange the half-apples lengthwise, pressing the slices against each other on top of the partially baked cake. Pour the remaining batter around them, then sprinkle with cinnamon and a little sugar. Return the cake to the oven and continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes.
