Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • 2.   Prepare the "crumble topping": place in the Thermomix bowl 100 g (3/4 cup) of whole wheat flour, 50 g (1/2 cup) of rolled oats, 80 g (1/3 cup) of sugar, 100 g (7 tbsp) of cold butter (cut into large pieces), and a pinch of salt. Mix for 15 seconds/reverse/speed 4, scraping the sides halfway through.
  • 3.   Peel 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of apples (or as many as your dish can accommodate, according to your preferred fruit-to-crust ratio!). Cut them into quarters, then cut each quarter in half or into 4 pieces. Place them in a not too large gratin dish (see notes). Press them down with your hand, then cover with the crumble topping and press lightly.
  • 4.   Bake the crumble for 35 minutes, or until the juice released by the apples caramelizes slightly on the edges and the crust is golden.
  • 5.   Serve the crumble warm, cold, or reheat for 15 minutes at 150°C (300°F), with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or custard!
