Thumbprints

With this recipe, I salute the Irish on the occasion of Saint Patrick's Day on March 17th. This wonderful initiative is proposed by Sophie, who runs the beautiful travel and gourmet blog "La Tendresse en Cuisine" and the association "Cuisiner pour la paix" (Cooking for Peace). You know me, I used a little less sugar (60g instead of 100g) and for the glaze, I used 100g of chocolate instead of 125g and 30g of butter instead of 60g, and I had some left over. This recipe is taken from the beautiful book "I Love Cake" by Trish Deseine. You remember, she was the one who published the book "Je veux du chocolat" (I Want Chocolate) and made us go through chocolate therapy!

Instructions

  • 1.   Beat together the softened butter and sugar.
Add the milk until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
Pour in the flour and knead by hand until you obtain a soft dough.

  • 2.   Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Divide the dough into 3 and roll them into 2cm (0.8 inch) diameter logs.
    Then cut them into slices.

  • 3.   Shape each slice into balls. Place them on a baking sheet and press on each one to make a hole.
    Bake them for 15 minutes.
  • 4.   Let them cool after removing them from the oven.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 3 minutes, add the butter and continue to cook gently for 1 minute.
  • 5.   Mix well to obtain a homogeneous consistency.
Using a teaspoon, pour chocolate into the holes.
    Let them cool and enjoy.
