Instructions

  • 1.   In a bowl, place all the ingredients (except the flour): ground meat, breadcrumbs or stale bread, chopped onion, egg, milk, 4 tablespoons of olive oil, and the herbs.

    Season with salt and pepper.

Mix with your hands until you get a well homogeneous mixture.

Cover the bowl and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. This step is optional but useful for the meat to absorb the herbs and seasonings.

Then, shape small balls using the palms of your hands.

Roll the meatballs in flour. Remove the excess by gently tapping them with your fingers.

In a medium heat pan, heat the remaining olive oil. Cook for about 10 minutes, turning the keftedes from time to time so that the flour browns on each side and forms a crust around the meatballs.

Enjoy the keftedes as a mezzé or main dish, accompanied by tzatziki, homemade pita bread, and Greek salad.
