Wheat Carbonara

Instructions

  • 1.   Peel and finely chop the onion.
    Peel the carrots and cut them into small cubes.
    Steam the peas and carrots, then set aside.
  • 2.   Cook the wheat and dice the ham if not already done.
  • 3.   In a sauté pan, pour the olive oil.
    Add the onion and sauté until golden. Add the ham.
    Deglaze with a spoonful of heavy cream.
  • 4.   Assemble the dish by adding the wheat and peas/carrots.
    Add the remaining heavy cream.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Serve with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes & Suggestions

  • You can also add broad beans or other vegetables to the dish, and replace the ham with bacon bits.
