Instructions

  • 1.   In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
  • 2.   In another bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • 3.   Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and the yeast mixture to the flour-salt mixture. Knead for about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a mixer until you have a soft and elastic dough.
  • 4.   Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for about 1 hour and 30 minutes in a warm place (the dough should double in size).
  • 5.   While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • 6.   Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle about 0.5 cm thick.
  • 7.   Spread softened butter evenly over the entire surface of the dough, then sprinkle with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • 8.   Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a long roll. Cut slices about 3 to 4 cm thick and place them in a buttered dish, leaving some space between each roll to allow them to expand. Cover and let them rise for another 30 to 45 minutes.
  • 9.   Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until they are golden brown.
  • 10.   While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze. Mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly, then generously drizzle them with the glaze.
