Split pea and red lentil dal

Instructions

  • 1.   Peel and finely chop the garlic, onion, and fresh ginger, and sauté them in an oiled pan.

    Add the spices and sauté them.
  • 2.   Rinse the split peas and add them to the spices. Stir well and incorporate the peeled tomatoes.

    Let simmer for about 40 minutes.
  • 3.   After forty minutes, add the previously rinsed red lentils.

    If necessary, add a mixture of water/broth/tomato paste.

    Continue cooking for another 20 minutes.
  • 4.   Serve with a drizzle of lime juice and a little fresh cilantro.

  • 130 g of split pea
  • 90 g of red lentil (optional)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 pinch of garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon of fresh ginger
  • 200 g of canned peeled tomato
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of ground coriander
  • 300 g of basmati rice (optional)
