Instructions

. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).

. In a bowl, mix together 170g (1 1/3 cups) of flour, 150g (3/4 cup) of sugar, almond powder, milk, oil, and 2 eggs.

. Peel the apples and cut them into thick slices.

. Put the batter in a high-sided, buttered, and floured cake pan.

. Place the apple slices on top of the batter.

. Bake for 20 minutes.

. Preparation of the topping.

. In a saucepan, melt the butter.

. Add 120g (2/3 cup) of sugar and vanilla extract, and let the sugar melt.

. Remove from heat, add 2 eggs, and whisk.

. Pour the topping over the cake and bake again for 15 minutes, then increase the oven temperature to 230 degrees Celsius (450 degrees Fahrenheit).

. Allow to cool before removing from the pan.
