1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
2. Add the softened butter to the center and work it into the dry ingredients using your fingertips. Gradually add enough milk to bind the dough.
3. On a floured surface, lightly knead the dough and roll it out to a thickness of 2cm.
4. Cut out 5cm rounds using the edge of a floured glass.
5. Place the rounds on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for 15 minutes.
6. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
7. Serve with a cup of tea, butter, and marmalade. Very English, isn't it?
