Glazed Turnips with Maple Syrup and Duck Confit

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • 2.   Peel the turnips and cut them into 4 to 6 pieces, depending on their size. Rinse them.
  • 3.   Put 2 tablespoons of duck fat (use the one from the can of duck legs) in a frying pan.
  • 4.   Coat the turnips well in the fat and sauté them until they are golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 5.   Add the maple syrup and the four spices, and sauté everything together.
  • 6.   Cover with water and simmer, partially covered, until the water has almost evaporated. Stir frequently.
  • 7.   Place the duck legs in an ovenproof dish and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 8.   Serve the duck legs with the glazed turnips.
