1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Peel the turnips and cut them into 4 to 6 pieces, depending on their size. Rinse them.
3. Put 2 tablespoons of duck fat (use the one from the can of duck legs) in a frying pan.
4. Coat the turnips well in the fat and sauté them until they are golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Add the maple syrup and the four spices, and sauté everything together.
6. Cover with water and simmer, partially covered, until the water has almost evaporated. Stir frequently.
7. Place the duck legs in an ovenproof dish and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
8. Serve the duck legs with the glazed turnips.
