Lentils and Montbelliard sausages

Do not drain the lentils and serve with a slotted spoon. The leftovers will make a delicious soup the next day!

Instructions

  • 1.   Sauté the roughly chopped onion in a saucepan. (Add garlic and/or ginger, but not too much... otherwise their taste could be distracting).
    Add sliced or cubed carrots.
    Add balsamic vinegar and bay leaf.
  • 2.   For dry lentils:
    Rinse the lentils and add them to the onions/carrots, then cover with water and bring to a boil.
    Cook over low heat until the lentils are tender. (The liquid should have been absorbed)

    For canned lentils:
    Cover the carrots/onions with a little water and bring to a boil.
    Cook over low heat until the carrots are tender (the liquid should have been absorbed).
    Add the canned lentils and let them warm up for a few minutes over low heat.
  • 3.   Add the sausages (sliced, they will further flavor the dish), season with salt and pepper. Let them warm up for a few minutes over low heat.
    Serve with a salad (such as cabbage).

  • 400 g of canned lentil
  • 200 g of dry lentil (optional)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 smoked sausages
  • 1 leaf of bay leaf
  • 1 garlic (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
