Instructions
1. Step 1
Preheat the oven to 240°C (464°F).
Step 2
Make the béchamel sauce.
Step 3
Place a layer of béchamel sauce, grated gruyère cheese, 1/2 slice of ham, more béchamel sauce, and grated gruyère cheese on one slice of lightly buttered bread. Close with the second slice of bread and cover the croque-monsieur with béchamel sauce and grated cheese.
Step 4
Place the 4 croque-monsieur on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil (be careful not to let them burn in the oven). Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 5
Serve with a side of green salad.

Notes & Suggestions
For the cheese, butter, and béchamel sauce, you will need several of each.
Very good. Wanting to make a very quick meal, I used pre-made béchamel sauce. Not disappointed. I spread the inside of the bread slices with garlic and herb Boursin cheese (using leftovers). Thank you.
